“I’ve tried several rigid thumb braces before, but they always felt bulky and uncomfortable. This gives me the support I need while still being comfortable enough to wear throughout the day. I barely notice I’m wearing it.”

Finding your size:

It takes a minute, and you only measure once.

1. Measure. Wrap a soft tape measure around your palm at it widest point, just below the knuckles, with your thumb relaxed out to the side. If you don't have tape measure, a strip of paper or a piece of string works just as well - wrap it round, mark where it meets, then hold it against a ruler.

2. Read. Keep it close-fitting but not tight, and note the measurement.

3. Match. Find your number and match to the sizings above.

Unsure between two sizes? Choose the smaller one. A snug fit at the base of the thumb provides the best support, and the fabric gives a little as it settles in.

It works the way your hands work.

Our brace isn't a treatment. It's a tool. You put it on before you pick up the needles and take it off when you're done. What changes is what you can get through while it's on.

The first session. You feel the fit at the base of the thumb immediately — snug around the CMC, nothing pressing on the fingers or wrist. The sharp catch that normally shows up around row forty softens because the joint stops moving under load.

The first week. You get through a full evening on the sofa without putting the needles down. The hand you'd been quietly favoring starts feeling like your hand again.

The first month. You finish a project you'd been nursing for weeks. Not pushed through. Finished.

Ongoing. It lives next to your knitting basket. You reach for it the way you reach for your reading glasses.

One note: the Row Forty is a wearable support product and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. If you have persistent pain, an injury, or a diagnosed joint condition, consult a qualified healthcare professional.

The Knitted Sleeve that holds the joint that catches

The pain at the base of your thumb comes from one joint — the CMC — sliding and grinding under load. Every pinch, every stitch, every spacebar tap moves it out of place.

A foam insert sits directly over that joint and holds it. Nothing else. Your wrist stays free. Your fingers stay free. Your fingertips stay free. You still hold the needles the way you already hold them.

The knitted sleeve stretches to fit, sits flat under a shirt cuff, and is built to be worn every session — not rested in a drawer between flare-ups.

Finally, a Brace that works.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the braces I've already bought that broke?

Our brace is built around a shaped foam insert that sits over the CMC joint, not stitched together from thin elastic and padding. Most sub-£15 Amazon braces fail at the seam because they're priced to a cost — the stitching, foam density, and knit weight are all optimized to come in under a number, not to last. The Row Forty is built in the opposite direction: a knit that stretches with the joint, a shaped insert that holds position, and seams reinforced where other braces fail. If it doesn't outlast the last one you tried, send it back inside 30 days.

No — because the support comes from a foam insert, not a plastic shell or a metal stay. Rigid clinical braces lock the wrist and immobilize the thumb, which is why they feel like a block. The Row Forty holds the CMC joint specifically and leaves everything else free: your wrist flexes, your fingers bend normally, your thumb tip is uncovered. You hold the needles the way you already hold them.

Most people feel the support the moment they put it on — the sharp catch at the base of the thumb softens because the joint stops moving under load. For sustained relief during a long session, give it a full week of daily wear. The brace supports, it doesn't heal — but worn consistently through the sessions that normally stop you, it lets you keep going.

Most people start with one — whichever hand gives up first. If you knit, that's usually the dominant hand (the one working the needle). If you type, it's often the hand you use for the spacebar and modifier keys. Many customers come back for a second after a few weeks because they realize they were overusing the un-braced hand to compensate. The two-pair bundle covers both from day one.

Return it within 30 days for a full refund. If it doesn't outlast the last brace you tried, if it doesn't let you get through a full session without the catch, if it just doesn't fit — send it back. We'd rather you return one than feel stuck with a brace that doesn't work for your hand.
